Drunk patients are causing havoc in hospital emergency departments with doctors and nurses regularly assaulted and other patients’ care compromised.


A survey of more than 2000 emergency doctors and nurses in Australia and New Zealand has revealed the scale of damage from alcohol-affected patients, who are dominating health workers’ time and intimidating others needing care.
